Welcome to CBT with Beth
CBT Therapy & Mental Health Support for Adults near Newbury, Basingstoke & Reading Berkshire

Hello, I am Beth, an Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.

I provide CBT therapy for adults struggling with anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges, offering both in-person sessions in Reading, Berkshire, and flexible online therapy options

I understand that seeking help can be a daunting step to take. I strive to make this journey as comfortable and safe as possible. With this in mind, I think it can be helpful to know a bit about the person you will be talking to.

I started my journey into the therapy world by volunteering as a Samaritan whilst I was at university. At the time I had my own experiences of therapy and of not feeling heard or understood by healthcare professionals.

I came to realise through my time as a Samaritan  that often when we are having a conversation with someone we are thinking about what to say next or trying to mindread and guess what the other person is thinking about. By listening to this inner narrative, it is taking you away from actually hearing what the other person is saying and being able to fully understand and engage with a person.

It was with this new understanding, I wanted to be able to provide a place for people to experience this and empower them to take steps to reclaim their life from any suffering they may be experiencing.

With 12 years of experience working in the mental health sector and 6 years working as an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, I have dedicated my practice to creating a warm and welcoming environment where clients feel truly seen and heard. My approach is centered around each individual's unique story, ensuring that every session is tailored to fit your personal needs and goals.

Whether you are facing anxiety, depression, or simply seeking personal growth, I think I can help.

By employing various evidence-based techniques, I will collaborate with you to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be affecting your well-being. Together, we can work towards meaningful change, building a path to recovery that acknowledges your strengths and individuality.

What clients say about their CBT journey

I was a little apprehensive before beginning my therapy journey, but Beth very quickly put me at my ease.  We worked on both coping strategies and identifying the cause of my issues.  This helped me to understand why my issues began, and the trigger points which had led to my previous damaging behaviour and how to avoid them going forward.  During our sessions I encountered a traumatic life event,  Beth helped me both process and recover from this. Following our sessions I feel I am in a much stronger and more stable place.  I

appreciate that mental wellness is a journey and should I require help along the away

at some point in the future I would not hesitate to reach out to Beth again

Client MH

Every CBT session is different and can often end up focusing on something

I wasn't expecting to. It's a safe and welcoming space to be totally open and

honest, and Beth will often pick up on a feeling or emotion that I was not even

consciously aware of during conversations which usually leads to some really helpful and interesting work on what was behind it.

Identifying where behaviours and feelings come from has helped me with many areas of my life and I really like that the sessions can either be led by me and what I want to talk about, or Beth can offer suggestions on what might be useful to work on. I used to worry sometimes that I would run out of things to say, or would struggle to fill the time, but that never happens! - Client RW
